Reflecting on My Years in Mexico

My husband Kelly and I lived in Mexico for much of 2005 — 2010. Now we’re back in Colorado, for good so far as I know… at least those little chickens are a good reason to stay close to home. (They continue to thrive.)

Anyway, I’ve been a member of a popular website called Squidoo for several years now, but recently I got invited to take a free class they offer called Rocketsquids. My first assignment was to write a webpage — they call them lenses there — about me. But not the “I was born…” type, though you could do that. But they recommended you choose a specific topic. At first I was going to do one on living simply but what came to me was to do one on my years in Mexico. That link takes you to it. In it, I reflect on what it was like living near Lake Chapala in Mexico’s central highlands. I tell the story of how Kelly falling off a roof changed our plans, and also explain why we came back to the U.S.

It’s got a couple of Youtube videos I made as well. Do take a look, if you are interested! (I am not advocating moving to Mexico right now, as things are too rough, but that can change down the road.)

And why that photo? I explain on Squidoo…
