The Top Ten Best Selling HEPA Filter Air Purifiers
Here are the top ten bestselling HEPA air filters right now at Amazon… I can say “right now” because this list automatically updates daily. These filters are typically rated for one room but they are easily portable. Also, they are inexpensive enough that we have one in our living room and another in the bedroom. Because the category at Amazon.com includes replacement filters as well as whole units, you’ll sometimes see replacement units in these listings.
This page is an addition to a couple of others that I’ve done on HEPA air filters. First, I wrote when we got one to help me breathe when distant forest fire smoke arrived in our house. It did really help. More recently, I did further research and wrote about how to choose the best HEPA air purifier. This page you’re on is different in the list it provides, with some further comments of mine after the list. If you are interested in reading more about any of these filters, each one will open in a new tab.

The reviews on Amazon.com can be very helpful. I can’t copy them here but you can read them as much as you want there. That’s one way to find out how loud any given unit is. I’ve noticed with our filters that they are louder on higher settings, not surprisingly, so at night the living room one gets turned off and the bedroom one gets turned down. On nights that we have the bedroom window open, we don’t even turn on the filter.
Something you might pick up from reviews would be the cost-conscious remarks people make about how the price of the unit compares with the ongoing prices of the filters you will need to replace from time to time. This reminds me of buying a home office printer, where the ongoing costs have to be factored in with the upfront price.
So just why would you need an air filter? In many places, the air quality is getting worse, whether from vehicles or factories or other emissions. The bad stuff in the air comes right on in to your home! Also, there are causes of pollution inside, such as dogs, cats, dust, and smoke.
I was a little surprised to see how often cooking on the gas stove in the kitchen set off the red lights on our Winix HEPA filter in the nearby living room. It would clean the air for a while and then shut off automatically. This happened both in our last house, where we cooked with propane, and our present one, where we have natural gas.
So Do These Filters Make a Real Difference?
Provided you do update the cartridges more or less on schedule, yes, they do. No doubt some are better than others and that is why I liked being able to insert the list of best selling HEPA Filter Air Purifiers on this page, where you can see what actual buyers have decided to get.
What does it mean when I say that an air filter works? It means that it will be able to remove many of the particles in the air that make allergies so bothersome. But it won’t replace dust-fighting housework, alas! Vacuuming is really worthwhile, specially if you have rugs, and so is dusting to keep down any dust buildup. If you have allergies to dust mites, then covers for your bedding are a good idea, as is washing your sheets in hot water pretty often. Keeping tobacco smoke out of the house is important too. I’d rather have runny eyes and a few sneezes than kick my cat outside but she’s not allowed in the bedroom when we are sleeping.
